I absolutely adore this pair. They are the last of Mitten's girls, who was the original mom surrendered to the rescue, and is one of the sweetest most dear rats I have ever had. Her girls are just like her. Petal is a sweet and outgoing PEW, who loves to be tickled and runs to the door when she sees you. Her sister Cridhe (Scots Gaelic for heart) is so named not only for the heart shaped marking on her back, but for her incredibly loving temperament. She is just like her mother. I also call her little heart. These two are just the best girls. They will dangle, and just love attention. They also love to run in their wheel and have full on wheelie tails. They would have been ones I would love to keep, but they deserve their very own home with someone who can give them tons more time than they will be able to get here with my other rats and responsibilities. They turned 1 on August 25th and have lots of energy. I will only consider the absolute best of homes for these girls. They deserve it!

Piranha is the mother of one of the three litters that were originally surrendered last August. She has mellowed a lot, but originally received her name from the protective way she took care of intruders to her cage when she had her babies! She is still somewhat cage aggressive on occasion, but she will warn you via her body language if she does not want your hand in her cage. She is much less likely to bite than she used to be, and will more often only nip at you if you come in smelling like other rats, or if you are upsetting Cricket, of whom she is very protective. Cricket is her daughter, and has always been a little nuts. She was a big screamer as a baby, but she doesn't do that as much anymore unless you really scare her. Piranha is very easy to pick up, and Cricket is not too hard to pick up. She will back away when you try sometimes, but other times she will let you pick her right up. Cricket will bite hands in her cage if she is in a bad mood. She has also slapped at my face before when I put it in her cage (CN) as I cleaned. It is better when cleaning to put them in a carrier so they don't get upset at you touching their stuff. they don't always get mad, but it's less stressful for them that way. Piranha has also developed a mammary tumor, which has grown fast but appears benign. It would be best taken off, but I am unable to afford to do so at the moment. In the meantime it hasn't impaired her movement or her liking of the wheel.
Neither of these girls are what I would call mean rats, they are simply easily scared, and just of one of those nutty temperaments. They need more one on one attention than I can give them. They do like out play, and have never bitten me outside of their cage. I think they are strictly cage aggressive, not necessarily human aggressive.
I will only consider adopting Piranha and Cricket to a very experienced rat owner that will want to work with them, or accept how they are. They are not adoptable to people who are not experienced with behavior problems.
If you would like to donate to help sponsor Piranha's tumor removal, that would also be helpful. The vet had quoted us at $150 dollars.

Old Listings
Lyddie and Mitten's Girls (Old pics, Petal and Cridhe & adopted sisters)

5 girls: 3 black and white variegated, 1 tan and white, 1 PEW. Born August 2008. These girls are very sweet. Some are still a little hand-shy, but love to come up and see what you are doing, and will crawl out onto your lap for treats. They are coming out of their shells, and with one on one attention would blossom! All of their other sisters are doing very well and being very outgoing in their adoptive homes. They love the wheel (see wheelie tail pic above!) and need one in their new homes!
Piranha (Olivia) and Girls

7 girls: 4 black and white variegated, 2 tan and white, 1 PEW. Born August 2008. These girls are very outgoing and active! They love their wheel and almost all have wheelie tail, as you can see from the one in the background in the first picture!
